Last outing was Kay’s first real bad start of the season, Jacob Gonzalez hasn’t been too bad to start the year but it’s more the fact that our infield needs aren’t as bad as our OF needs.

そして何より重要なのは、彼らが折れないことだ。1勝5敗のスタートでも、トロント戦で調子を上げてきた直後にボルチモアにスイープされても、彼らは折れなかった。試合中ずっと負けていても、リードを失っても諦めない。第2戦を落とした後のロードで2シリーズ勝ち越したのがその証拠だ。彼らは自分たちと仲間を信じている。
チームには若くて才能のある選手がたくさんいるし、これからもっと出てくる。

They are better than even I expected. They grind - they don’t give up any at bats - they hustle - they play defense with some abandon - they put pressure on opponents and force mistakes…
And - perhaps most importantly - they don’t fold. They didn’t fold after a 1-5 start - or after getting swept by Baltimore right after it looked like they were putting it together against Toronto. They don’t fold when they are behind all game - or when they blow a lead. They bounced back to win two series on the road after losing the second game. They don’t quit. They seem to believe in themselves and each other.
There is a lot of good, young talent on this team - and a lot more coming soon.
If the bullpen can be straightened out - they could even find themselves in the race.
For the first time in a long time I tune in with high expectations every day.
