Yesterday the underdog Dodgers managed to eke out a series tie against the powerhouse Colorado Rockies, led by outstanding performances by Max Muncy, Dalton Rushing, and Justin Wrobleski. Wrobleski is now the Dodgers’ team leader in wins and (qualified) ERA, while Muncy is the current team leader in HRs, Rushing is the (overall) team leader in BA, OBP, and SLG, and sophomore star Andy Pages is a rounding error away from leading the team in overall fWAR (just behind some Japanese player’s total two-way fWAR).

In other words, while this Dodgers team may not feature the big-name star power that a big-market team like the Blue Jays or Padres can trot out, their scrappy and underpaid young stars are keeping them competitive while offering a glimpse of the team’s promising future. Let’s hope that this surprising start can continue against the mighty Giants, whose offseason shopping spree has them winning games in this early season at the same remarkable rate as the Rockies.

The last concert I went to was over a year ago to see a U2 tribute band. To the best of my recollection, the last REAL concert I went to was either Radiohead or one of Thom Yorke’s solo projects, something like 10 years ago.

Random question: Some of the guys like Glasnow, Muncy, and Miggy seem to do a crazy amount of long form interviews on baseball shows compared to the rest of the team. I’m sure they all have some level of media commitment in their contracts, but are these guys going the extra mile for any special reason?

I figure maybe they just don’t mind it as much as some guys probably do, it sets them up for a possible future doing a little broadcast work, and takes some load off other guys on the team.
