It’s the same reason a walk counts, you’re not swinging at a ball. If you swing at a ball that hits you it’s a strike instead of a HBP, so the skill of plate discipline is still being tested.

I hope he does well, but at this point, its better if you go in with low expectations. I’ll keep going into every watch of Roki’s outing expecting a blowout, him getting taken out in the third or fourth inning, until he starts being consistently okay. Waaaaaay too volatile.

Was kind of surprise that Tucker swung at the first pitch, but I guess if you see one you like, swing away(?) I guess my only criticism of that decision is it’s the closer, so they generally only have so many efficient bullets in the chamber.
But the real problems were Emmett not having efficient, shutdown innings. He let the Rockies back in the game. And Klein, of course, wasn’t good.
Teo striking out with men on and two outs as well as Pages and Muncy not coming through with runners on as well. The three of them were 0-11 for the game.
Overall, the team was 0-7 with RISP.
