I agree. You go to dodger stadium and most of the big sponsors are from Japan/Asia now. Uniqlo is paying the most obviously because they got field naming rights, but dodgers are pulling in 25 mill a year from that alone. You’re not getting that brand without ohtani. And that’s before you consider literally every other way he brings in money.

I think infield value, because of age, maaaybe there’s an argument for Soto being paid more than Shohei. I still wouldn’t make that argument, but I can see it. Shohei’s off field value can’t be ignored though. His off field value dwarfs every other player.
Soto might be paid close to what he’s worth. Shohei is obviously underpaid at an estimated $42M present day value salary. The Dodgers could pay him $150M per year and he’d be worth it.
