Yeah that’s fair, but as old fashioned as batting average is, I feel like having a guy who puts the ball in play early helps set the tone. Our offense isn’t bad but so many of these dudes still hit less than 250 and strike out a ton. Just my opinion though. I’ve been a fan since my DziaDzia took me to my first game as a five year old in 1993. We went to tufano’s first because even his golabki and bigos cooking ass loved Italian food. When he moved over to Archer Heights as a ten year old in the 1940’s with a weird accent and poor English skills, baseball skills were essential to his ability to blend in and make friends. He took me to at least one game every year until his death in 2014, I’ll always love the Sox and I’ll always love talking about them to anyone who will listen (whether my opinions are wrong or right lol).

Antonacci/Meidroth still have a higher OBP. They’re the table setters.Mune/Vargas have higher OPS. Nobody in this universe would drop either of them down for Peters. it’s ok to have a guy who can rake towards the bottom of the lineup. That’s what good teams do.
