He’s not going to be benched in the middle of a division race. Maybe a rare day off / moving him down on the order could help him get right. This was one of his concerns as a hitter and why a lot of teams passed on him. Fortunately we haven’t seen a prolonged slump until now but he likely will break out of it soon. You just don’t bench a guy with 30+ HR power. One of those things he just needs to figure out. All it takes is one of those high fly balls to get over the fence, then more homers will follow

Yeah it’s really ugly currently and I get the concern, I’m somewhat concerned myself. Even though it didn’t happen today, he’s still getting in base a lot with the walks. The swing decisions are mostly fine still, just not squaring the ball up how he was all year. Have to imagine he’ll break through soon, and hopefully it’s on the home stand against Minnesota this weekend.

Bench him is laughable, don’t be a doomer. He is in a slump all players go through it. He will figure it out we have seen his skill. Look at what people were saying about Peters during his slump and then look at him now. Hell, C Mont seems to be coming out of his slump as we speak. I’m not even sure this is the case as Murakami is just whiffing everything. It’s not like Colson’s slump where there were exactly two pitches that killed him every single time. Mune still had a good eye, is still getting his walks, and is swinging when he needs to - he’s just late on literally everything. He still draws a ton of walks you can’t overlook that stat with your post by not mentioning how many walks he draws you’re just cherry picking stats to be more negative than needed yes he’s struggling. Yes, maybe he should go down in the order but he is still valuable to our team and we’re in the middle of a division race. Nobody is benching him. Maybe he needs a day off, but that’s as far as it’s gonna go and that’s not even likely.

No he hasn’t. He batted .258 in July, .147 in August and .125 so far in August. He has 9 homers to go with 77 strikeouts. His on base percentage and slugging has fallen off a cliff. I don’t like it anymore than anyone else here but he’s not been anywhere close to “above average”,

I would love for him to get a couple of unscheduled days off or to be moved down in the order. The cynical part of me feels like he doesn’t want to move down and we’re doing anything we can to make him happy because we really want him to sign some sort of team friendlyish deal. Him batting in the two spot just doesn’t make any sense though

He’s not working himself anywhere except worse. His numbers are going down, sharply - and his number of strikeouts are increasing. Sure he gets the occasional hit or walk - that’s not good enough. I said a week ago either the league has the book on him now or there’s something fundamentally wrong. He’s struck out in almost half his at-bats the last month+. That’s a dead hole in the lineup. And as many here have said he’s not even close on his swings.
