I could kinda understand this reaction if this was Shohei’s first year here just coming from the Angels where he hadn’t won. But how can anyone act like he’s not a massive winning player when he was the biggest reason in taking this team to back-to-back championships in his first two years with the team (first non-covid ring in 30+ YEARS)? Oh btw he’ll go 1st-1st-2nd in MVP voting in three seasons here. He basically had one bad month due to injuries and idiots act like he’s a problem. I think the “fans” need to do a few of the following. Play baseball themsleves, understand that 3 out of 10 in this sport is hall of fame level, and just watch the game with that knowledge and experience in mind. If they dont want to do that, they should find a different sport cause this one is made for those who can appreciate failure.

Truly astonishing to see the lack of support amongst some of the dodgers fan base for the goat on his first game back from an injury ohtani suffered. Injuries sustained from carrying this team from day one, injuries from doing the work of two players as a hitter and pitcher. No one has worked harder for his teams as ohtani, and he has paid a physical price for this. I love JDP and love his energy and he will for sure be back soon but as you did say, it was only about a month of play. The fact we had people mad about Shohei Ohtani who is genuinely the greatest baseball player to ever live and grace this sport is just insane to me. If the game is on the line and we have one batter left, I would rather that batter be Ohtani with his track rexoed and proven success than a rookie with flair. And that is not disrespect to JDP but the respect that Ohtani has earned with his play and clutch homers that frankly made it possible for us to even win 24 and 25. People love to bash Ohtani and say he isnt clutch in October as well because his batting average or lack of hits in certain series then forget that without him, we dont even have b2b world series. 2024 there is no nlcs with Ohtani’s game 1 nlds 3 run blast. 2025 there is no world series game 7 without Ohtani’s 2 homers in game 3 (with one of those being a game tying homer in the 7th). Yeah he sucked in the nlds against Sanchez and Luzardo who are lefty killers. Yeah he didnt hit in the nlcs aside from game 4 (but really no one else did either since pitchers were huge for that sweep), but we dont get 2025 either without his game 3 heroics.

The problem is some people in the dodgers fan base love to bash him. Anyhow ohtani has had set backs and overcome them. PS ohtani was ranked the no 2 hitter behind Vlad in the last playoffs and he was also a starting pitcher. Other fan bases would love to take ohtani off our hands , if they can. Just look at how fking insane it is we are even comparing the goat to a 21 year old rookie who played well for 10 fking games lol. Why are we even discussing and debating and comparing the two of them. There is no fking comparison.

There is some truth in the people who say we have the worst fan base cause what fucking fan base trashes the guy who will likely be the greatest to ever play and is going to be a first round hall of famer? The same fanbase that trashed another sure fire first rounder in Kershaw, Jansen, and Mookie. We get so many super star players who are some of the greatest to ever play yet our fans have the memory of a goldfish and dopamine/instant gratification needs of a drug addict. Frustration with a player failing in a big spot is understandable. Trashing them and wishing a 10 day rookie was still here over Ohtani is stupid. Not to mention to people who name call guys such as the fans who said “dookie betts” and “outani” but then they also never say anything when Freddie struggles. Weird and frankly, undeserving people have polluted this sub unfortunately.

That’s literally not true he was awful prior to his IL stint and did not make our team better the team was in a slump. Thats not all on him of course but this fantasy notion that any one player is impervious to poor play and should have in unlimited rope is crazy talk. A fully healthy Sho will definitely be better than an Injured Sho, that’s for sure. And I’d hope we all want Sho to get fully healthy and return to form. But we lost the first game where Sho comes back at the cost of losing JDP. The loss last night didn’t help the team and Shohei really didn’t help the team last night

The thing I was looking for was any display of physical pain on the swing or the inevitable walk back to the dugout. His pre-plate routine seemed back to normal and he looked relatively pain free. That’s a win. You know who has looked great? JDP. He has looked great. Sho did not “look great” last night but if you were expecting him to look great after two weeks on an IL, maybe baseball isn’t the sport for you
酷い内容ではなかったが、そこまでめちゃくちゃ心強いというほどでもなかった。ただ、少なくとも精神面では良い軌道に戻りつつあるように見えたよ。怪我が肉体面でどれほど大きな影響を与えているかは、シーズンが終わるまで分からないだろうけど。
it wasn’t a poor showing but it wasn’t super encouraging either. he did look like he’s on a better track now though, mentally at least. we won’t know if the injury is playing a much larger physical part until after the season.
