I’m going to say no to the first question. I just don’t trust him. Second question, yeah those comps are real. JDP is the Dodgers top prospect. Just think about what that means in and of itself. He’s shown he’s an absolute beast at every level so far. I can see them leaving him off the roster for playoffs just due to experience more than anything, but he’ll be a taxi squad guy. Sky is the limit for his future. Third question, despite what much of this sub thinks, Sheehan has and will be fine. If he took as much time off as Snell, he would always look like this coming back. It’s very clear that he can’t handle full season loads, and yet that’s exactly what we’ve demanded from him. He’s overworked. When he gets breaks, he’s fine. It’s not necessarily what you want but a lot of pitchers operate this way.

I wouldn’t say Diaz is completely there or that he’s clearly better than Sasaki or Scott, but he’s manageable now. Today he looked pretty good but with some control issues. Still need to see more. JDP seems legit. I think he should make it in and he could come in as a replacement for Teo or Tucker against RHP, particularly as a pinch hitter. Regarding Diaz: I like him, but unfortunately I don’t know that there’s anything he could do in these last two series that would conclusively convince me “He’s back!” It’s nice to see him blank the Giants and the Padres, but at the end of the day putting up a few shut-out innings against even the top of the line-ups of those two teams is a fundamentally different task from pitching against clubs like the Brewers or the Braves or even the Cubs. At present, there’s a whole heap of guys I’d put into high leverage situations before him. Regarding JDP: I mean, we’re up against less-than-top-tier competition in the remaining games, we’ve already clinched the post-season, we’ve essentially got the bye wrapped up (we could literally lose every single regular season game from here on out and still have a very decent shot at second seed), and Doc could not possibly care less about stat-padding or a 100-win season, so now’s the time for experimentation — and the main priority at this point isn’t wins, it’s getting all our guys into the post-season as healthy and as rested as possible and figuring out who should go where. Does Teo want an extra day off before the play-off grind begins? Does Tucker want one? Give it to ‘em, and try JDP out in the corners. If his bat stays as hot as it’s been, then as long as he isn’t terrible (or tbh even if he is terrible but not too terrible) at the position, his presence would still be a net-positive on the roster IMO. Our streaky offense has been our Achilles heel for most of this season (and a decent chunk of the last), and things feel like they click better when he’s around. The upsides make it worth at least giving him a shot or two in this final stretch to see how he plays slotted into a defensive role. Of course this could all be moot because there’s five regular games left and a whole month of play-offs to get through and y’gotta play with the players you have available, so any one of our guys going down with an injury would completely change the calculus, lol.

全盛期のディアスはまさにカオスそのものだ。基本的に球威はエグくて制球はそこそこ。調子が良いときは打者をなぎ倒すが、最大の問題はその夜にどっちのディアスが現れるか分からないこと。だからクローザーはリレー体制になるだろうね。ディアスはおそらく抑えを任されるだろうが、少しでも崩れたら即交代だろう。あるいは9回にエンリケスが103マイル超えの剛速球を投げ込んでくるだけかもしれない。

Diaz is chaosball at his best. Basically nasty stuff, ok command. When he’s dialed in he will mow batters down but the biggest problem is you don’t know which one will show up on any given night so closer is gonna be a group effort. Diaz will most likely get the closer role but with a short leash. Or it might just be Henriquez yeeting 103+ in the 9th.

1つ目の質問について：昨夜の中継で言っていたけど、ロバーツ監督はクローザーを複数人で回す可能性が高いと明言していて、スコット、佐々木朗希、スチュワート、そして場合によってはディアスの名前を挙げていたよ。

Re #1 - On the broadcast last night they mentioned Roberts has stated it will likely be closer by committee and he mentioned Scott, Roki, Stewart and possibly Diaz.

It still has to be closer by committee. Doc hasn’t put Diaz in any leverage situations yet since he came back. He looks ok but he’s definitely not ready to be the designated closer. His slider still doesn’t look right, but he’s made improvements. JDP looks phenomenal, but it will be hard to get him in as a DH if Ohtani is playing. He can still make the postseason roster though. Also, now that Ohtani is back, he’ll get less playing time unless he plays OF. Emmet Sheehan to me is a lock for the postseason. He looks like his old self. He’d be a just in case scenario like JDP as a starter, but he’ll definitely be part of that bullpen.

Seems like the AAA pitching coach fixed Diaz and improved Sheehan. Diaz mentioned working with the AAA pitching coach after his disastrous outing and hasnt given up a run since in either AAA or MLB in 4IP. Small sample size but its a good sign. Sheehan has been optioned back to AAA for some reason as if yesterday.

Knowing what I know about the Dodgers, they won’t have JDP on the initial postseason roster. They won’t want to risk him losing postseason confidence and feel with just one or two at bats per series, against baseballs best pitchers. Unfortunately his defense is unplayable right now, he played in the outfield for a few innings and the fairly routine ball he caught looked like Bambi catching a Randy Johnson fastball . the Dodgers stick to the defense and experience playbook. 彼が大谷翔平じゃないことは分かっている。だけど、スイーパーに空振り三振したり毎打席ゲッツーに倒れたりしないJDPのおかげで、最近の打線は劇的に変わったよ。もしJDPの打順に大谷翔平が入っていたら、あの2回のビッグイニングが生まれていたかどうか分からないね。
