shoheis career up to this point is already better than anything wemby will achieve. the amount of skill it takes to do what shohei does on the level he does it at will never be seen again. wemby for sure is an alien, but shohei is from a completely different universe.

Even if Wemby becomes the GOAT of basketball, he will not be comparible to Ohtani. This is no disrespect to Wemby, he’s incredible and generational, but in my lifetime, I’ve already seen multiple possible goats. Whereas, there’s no Ohtani before him, and I don’t see an Ohtani after him or at least not in my lifetime.

it’s really not even worth comparing because the two sports are totally different, but the only reason Wemby can do things others can’t is cause his size. There’s a good amount of MLB players with Shohei’s physical build that still can’t do what he does , because it’s simply too hard. In theory, other NBA players could do what Wemby does (dribble and shoot from distance), they’re just not big enough to do the other things he can do which makes him great (a ferocious shot blocking rim protector)
so for that reason alone i’m just gonna go with Shohei

Wemby is in his 3rd year… and in that time he has ROY, amongst other awards.
Ohtani is considered either the best baseball player ever, or 2nd best after Babe Ruth.
Wemby is not considered the best basketball player ever, he is not even yet considered the best center ever.
Meaning, at this point, Ohtani is heads and shoulders above Wemby.
No matter what Wemby does, will he ever be considered the best basketball player ever? No I think people will still stick with MJ. Will he ever be considered the 2nd best basketball player ever? No, I think Lebron has it pretty set. Could he be the 3rd best basketball player ever? Possibly, but he needs to win at least 1 championship first no?
In seven years, let’s check where Wemby is at in year 10 on the NBA and where Ohtani was in his first 10 years.
Even then, I think it will be Ohtani.

2 athletes have been all-stars at 2 positions before Ohtani.
Bo Jackson and Deon “Primetime” Sanders (did it in 2 different sports). Ohtani is doing it in 1. (Same super human levels cause in my opinion baseball is the only team sport world wide). I say baseball is the only team sport cause Ohtani and Trout competing on the same team in any other sport have multiple titles.
Influential at the global sports levels maybe Victor has Ohtani beat cause the NBA is a global sport (Since Michael Jordan and the Dream Team).
World wide sports:
Boxing (I name 1st cause its my favorite sport and it’s the sport I used to excape poverty. Boxing isn’t and Uncle or tio would of gone pro if an injury happened. At any point in my life I could of payed 600 US dollars to go pro). I’m not disciplined enough (my daughter is Mexico City’s lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight golden glove champion).
UFC and combat sports are a super close second. Cause the same reasons. Minus the participation.
Summer Olympic sports 3rd (we all know who the fastest man is). The world watches.
Futbol is the world most popular sport. (I’m Mexican and we suck. Mexico’s national sport BTW).
NBA since The Dream team.
Tennis.
F1 is a fringe sport.
