His pitch sequence was great too throwing a low splitter or slider down and if he bites great but he didn’t so he dotted a fastball down in the zone he did the same thing but to a left handed hitter and dotted it on the right down and away which the batter swung at and missed.

I’ll give you that but he said his last start he needed to work on pitch sequence but I loved seeing a splitter down in the zone hitter doesn’t swing so for the fastball. You could almost see the batter go ‘damn I thought it was the splitter ’Yamamoto does this a lot which is why he’s effective with curve , splitter or fastball

It wasn’t until yesterday that he implemented both pitches and cut down his fastball which resulted in a successful outing. It’s nice to see him embrace the Japanese style of pitching rather than chasing velo.

That’s the next challenge, striking out top players, he’s not there yet but think it’s baby steps. People like Ohtani, Judge, or Trout etc can hit non-strike/out side the zone homeruns but it’s the 2 things that he didn’t do well that got covered in that Angels game, even if it’s the worst team in baseball that he’s faced, it’s no walks and no meatballs by dotting the line (and going to the 7th).

LOL. but having him out there that last time, not this series when he was doing really bad, Sho and Yoshi noticed he was slightly tipping the hitters but it was really subtle things that an ACE and Ohtani would catch faster than some coaches out in the AAA games.That’s why I thought he shouldn’t have gone to AAA because it’s the little things that he was probably working on to get better against real teams but needs a proper mentor.
