If you take out the ChiSox game, these are the kinds of starts he has been giving us since he turned it around and added the new splitter. His ERA is under 4 even with that blow up start which is great for someone who is our 5/6th starter when everyone is healthy.

結果はどうあれ、私は彼を誇りに思う。あのホームラン以外は6回まで無失点に抑えたし、そのパフォーマンスは評価されるべきだ。みんな忘れているかもしれないが、山本由伸だってMLB1年目は苦労した。「令和の怪物」も昨年は怪我でほとんど投げられなかったが、ポストシーズンでの活躍はドジャースの進撃に大きく貢献した。だから、佐々木に対するネガティブな意見はあまり信じていない。適応期間、経験不足、異なる登板間隔、移動、MLBの環境。これらは日本の投手がMLBに来る際に誰もが経験することだ。彼はまだ学んでいる最中だし、最終的にどんな投手になるかを判断するには時期尚早だと思う。
I’m still proud of him despite the result. Other than the one home run, he kept them scoreless into the sixth inning, and I think that performance deserves some credit. People should remember that even Yoshi struggled during his first MLB season. The Reiwa Era Monster barely pitched last year because of injuries, and yet his postseason performance was a huge reason the Dodgers made their run. So I don’t really buy into the negative narratives about Roki. The adjustment period, the lack of experience, the different workload, the pitching schedule, the travel, the overall MLB environment, these are things that pretty much every Japanese pitcher has to go through when they come to the MLB. He’s still learning, and I think it’s way too early to judge what kind of pitcher he’ll ultimately become.
